Book review

Thank you – come again

I don’t often blog about blogging – it all gets a bit self referential – but the number of people dropping by this blog today (mainly it has to be said via the internet rather than WP reader) made this my best month ever in terms of visitors and views.

I know my readership is tiny by most standards, but the two or three people who swing by regularly to check out what I have been reading, and to sometimes say hello, make it worth doing. Yes it is sometimes a bit of a chore, and as I close in on 400 posts and I’d guess around 300 reviews (the rest are supplementary and comment pieces) I wonder how long I will keep going, but for now, and again, thank you.

My plans for the blog going forward are pretty relaxed – more of the same, with a focus on reading writers I haven’t read before – but if you have any suggestions on authors I should look into, please let me know.

  1. It was heartening to read this post, as your blogging experience seems to mirror mine (or mine yours). For me, it has developed into a habit or discipline even, as the time has gone by, and now makes me read with a sharper focus and clearer attention, knowing that I expect myself to write an intelligent (?) piece after I’ve finished a book. Long may you continue!

You do a wonderful job keeping it going, an inspiration to the rest of us. I took what was meant to be a short break, and was amazed to see it has been 10 months (just done a quick review). Although I blog for pleasure, being sent some books by a publisher encouraged me to get back to it. Yep, possibly like you, the bulk of my readers come via search engines (not the WP reader) – every now and then one of the social networks sends a ton of people.

  3. Good for you! Your work here is always one of my favorite reads, and it’s clear you put tons of thought into your posts, which always make them a joy to read. I’m really glad that people are finding their way to your work, it deserves to be read. Not to mention that you put all kinds of interesting books in my path that I might not otherwise have heard of, and your essays are always really engaging and make me think about my relationship to books and reading.
